​George Loli

George Loli, renowned for his masterful use of watercolor, was also an amazing teacher.  He knew how to get the best work out of his students, either as a Professor of Architecture and Design at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, or teaching children and adults here at Achilles Print Studio.  His passion for drawing and painting everywhere that he went is what made him so good, and we were so lucky to have him as an instructor at Achilles.  George had so many students throughout his life, so many people who admired him and his art.  This exhibition of his work will be the first since 2017, and will encompass a wide range of his output, allowing the viewer a glimpse into the brilliant, visual meditations of George Loli. 

George Loli was a dear friend to us, to a lot of us. He was such a wonderful artist, teacher, mentor and human being. He always brought a smile to the room; he was loved greatly. His passing is very surreal. We miss him so much. Thank you George for being such a beautiful person and friend. We will miss your visits and seeing you produce masterpieces. We will miss hanging out for your watercolor workshops and art classes. A true master and great friend, it's difficult to put into words. We love you George..

Mission Statement 
​& Events at Achilles

Our mission is to foster arts education and creativity in Acadiana, by providing opportunities and resources for artists and writers to help enrich the community. We offer art classes and creative workshops every month as well as host exhibitions and lectures throughout the year. Our classes are taught by professional artists and writers who are experienced instructors.  We strive for excellence in the arts and education here at Achilles. 

​The facility offers opportunities for professional artists to teach and further their research and studio practice by having access to the studio equipment, as well as through public lectures, classes, and workshops. One of the goals of Achilles Print Studio is to foster a creative and unique learning environment by providing a facility that is well equipped with professional materials and resources available to the public. Through providing these enrichments to the public we hope to facilitate the development and further stimulate the practice and study of the arts in the community.
