Biography

Yasaman Moussavi was born in Tehran’ Iran. She holds an MFA degree with two emphasis in Painting and Printmaking from Texas Tech University. She also has a Master Degree in “Art Studies” from Tehran University in Iran. Moussavi received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting with honors for her final art project and thesis from the Al-Zahra University of Tehran.

Artist Statement

Transition, either physically or spiritually, characterizes our lives. Going through different life stages, as an infant then as an adult, we are evolving through transformations. We may be obliged to leave behind the previous and find the new.  We struggle, experience and face various conditions when passing through all life stages. Moving physically or emotionally provides an orientation for exploring the transitional intricacies. 

My investigation towards the notion of transformation, conceptually and technically, entices me to search through mystical traditional  Iranian literature as a valuable reference in my life.
